3ICE to Feature NHL Hall of Famers, Michigan Players in New Professional Hockey League

Grand Rapids – The brand new, six-team, independent, three-on-three, professional hockey league, 3ICE, brings their nine-stop 2022 Tour to Van Andel Arena® on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 3:00PM.

With local ties to the state of Michigan, multiple Michigan universities, the NHL, and other professional hockey leagues, 3ICE players will compete in games that will consist of two, eight-minute periods using a running clock on a full-sized rink. Each team has seven players (including one goalie) and competes in a nine-week season that will feature six games each night. The bracket-style single-elimination format will include three first round games, two semifinal matchups, followed by a title game.

About the Players & Coaches

3ICE features NHL Hall of Famers, as well as players with NHL and other professional and collegiate level experience, including many with local ties. Players Colton Hargrove and Griffen Molino, from Team Murphy, have previously played for Western Michigan University prior to joining the new league. Before their debut with 3ICE, Alex Kile and T.J. Hensick both pursued their college hockey careers at the University of Michigan, and Seamus Donohue and Mark Auk played further up north at Michigan Tech University.

Chris Mueller, who previously played for the Grand Rapids Griffins and Michigan State University, will also be competing in the new three-on-three league this summer, along with Zach Goberis, former hockey player at Adrian College.

Coach Larry Murphy, former Stanley Cup Champion and player for the Detroit Red Wings, currently works as the studio analyst for the Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit, and is now the new coach for 3ICE team, Team Murphy.
