Two-time Calder Cup Champions, the Grand Rapids Griffins began play in 1996 as a member of the International Hockey League. They joined the American Hockey League in 2001 and serve as the feeder team to the Detroit Red Wings. The Griffins home ice is located at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In 2020 renovations at Van Andel Arena provided the hockey team with updated locker rooms, guest locker rooms, weight room and more!
Kleyn Electric was nominated for a 2020 Excellence in Construction Award for the Van Andel Arena Locker Rooms and West Lounge Renovations. Kleyn was given the task to remodel these rooms in partnership with Pinnacle Construction Group, in a short time frame, while the Arena was still being used. Their work included special LED lighting and provided outstanding results.
