Produced with The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan, this was recorded at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI, during the COVID-19 pandemic in December 2020, virutally and in person. We safely produced this broadcast that included a full three-stage orchestra and band, and remote interview with Dr. Bernice A. King in studio.
Captus Creative and Van Andel Arena created the most extensive virtual performance space in the United States at the time. Utilizing the full 200 ft of hockey floor, we created two 80ft x 40ft performance spaces with complete lighting and broadcast audio and video systems, which also allowed for safe, staggered spacing between musicians. In addition, musicians who had to perform without masks were tested.
The remote interview with Dr. Bernice A. King was recorded at GoLiveGR Studios. Captus Creative and Aria Show Technologies build this studio during the COVID-19 pandemic to create a safe broadcast set for remote / virtual and small in-person shows.
Rigorous testing and safety protocols at both venues were adhered to, and no outbreak of COVID-19 occurred as a result of these events.
