SMG/Van Andel Arena was recently awarded the 2008 Prime Site Award by Facilities magazine. 

Facilities 2008 Prime Site Awards are based on the opinions of those in the industry directly involved with site selection - booking agents, promoters, talent buyers, and special event planners.

Timothy Herrick, Editorial Director of Facilities magazine expressed, “The award recognizes venue excellence, a criteria that includes the structural dynamics of a building, the level of technology of its sound, lighting, staging- and the quality of the venue staff.  All these components are integral to the success of the performance and audience experience.” 

Twenty-nine other SMG-managed buildings were awarded with the Prime Site Award as well, including Peoria Civic Center (Peoria, IL), Nationwide Arena (Columbus, OH), Sovereign Center (Reading, PA), Times Union Center (Albany, NY), Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall (Atlantic City, NJ), and the Verizon Wireless Arena (Manchester, NH).
